It took a little while to diagnose, but we finally figured out that the fuel pump was failing. When the previous owner added the Holley Sniper EFI, they added an in-line fuel pump outside of the tank. This external pump set up caused overheating and random failures. We also didn’t like the hole drilled in the bottom of the current fuel tank.
We ordered a replacement, a Tanks EFI gas tank with a GPA fuel pump, designed to fit 1973-1981 Blazers. The internal pump will stay cooler and will clean up the frame.
In the next few months, the engine and drivetrain will be replaced. For now, we replaced the fuel lines with EFI rubber lines. When the engine is replaced, we will take the time to change the lines out to aluminum or braided steel.
